Apex UMC Prom Shoppe – February 20 & 21
The Apex UMC Prom Shoppe is an outreach ministry event that has been held for the last 6 years. Young women in need are able to come and receive a prom dress, shoes, jewelry, make-up and accessories at no charge to them. We do not require any type of registration, the only thing we ask is that the girls have a true need and that they have a “pay the kindness forward” frame of mind. Many of the young women who have received dresses in the past have returned to volunteer or donate in subsequent years. The Prom Shoppe’s goal is to make sure that all young women are able to experience the joy and excitement of attending their prom and feeling that they are special and beautiful no matter what their family’s financial situation.

Rough Cut Men’s Rally – March 7 @ Jonesboro UMC
In the movie industry, a “Rough Cut” is a raw first edition of a movie giving an idea of how the finished product will look, where it has problems and where it excels. DAVID DUSEK uses major motion picture clips, Biblical passages and personal testimonies to lead men through a no holds barred exploration of issues such as greed, stewardship, lust & personal integrity with the goal of beginning the process of open communication & growth that will lead them from being “Rough Cut Men” to the finished product.
Event is 9 am to 4 pm with a pig pickin’ for lunch. Cost is $20 per person. Contact Bill Huggins email@example.com or 919-356-5109 or James Bingham firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-291-4264 for additional information or go to http://fairwaydistrictnc.org/rough-cut-mens-rally-march-7th/ for a printable flyer to distribute.
Fairway District Youth Event – Friday, March 20 @ St. Luke UMC
The Fairway District Youth Committee invites all youth in the district to St. Luke UMC in Sanford on Friday, March 20, from 6:30-9:00 for an event we’re calling “Light the Night.” There will be three parts to the evening.
- An extremely active activity called “Glow Ball” (it’s glow-in-the-dark-dodge ball),
- A time of worship with our message being delivered by Rev. Brian Wellborn of “The Well,” a new ministry in Fayetteville, and
- An Imagine No Malaria presentation from Rev. Rachel Moser.
The cost is $10 per person, which will cover expenses. We also encourage youth groups in attendance to raise additional donations for Imagine No Malaria to help our Conference reach our $1 million goal. Checks should be made out to “Pinehurst UMC” with “Fairway Youth” on the memo. If your group would like to attend, or if you have any questions, please contact the District Youth Coordinator Zack Moser email@example.com by February 16 with an approximate number of youth who will attend from your church.
