Unlike many other diseases that are awaiting a cure, malaria was eliminated in the US in the 1950’s. However, in Sub -Saharan Africa, malaria continues to kill a person every 60 seconds. But there is hope! Imagine No Malaria is part of a global partnership and together with our partners, our generation can beat malaria once and for all. The Fairway District Skeeter Run/Walk 5K is part of that partnership to help wipe out Malaria.
Here are some details:
- Race Registration is $15.
- You may pre-register at HERE, until April 6 using a credit card or Paypal, or by mailing your check to District Office after completing your on-line registration.
- Walk-up registration will also be available on April 12 (day of the event) beginning at 1:00pm. To register at the event you will need to pay by cash or check only. Checks should be made payable to “Conference Treasurer – Raleigh Area.”

Public School Snow Make-Up Days “Outreach Baskets”
We all like surprises! What might happen within our churches and communities if each Fairway District charge were to create an “Appreciation Basket” for one public school in your local community during one of the upcoming snow make-up days? “Appreciation Baskets” might include:
- Washed & shined fresh apples
- Colorful candy bars
- Bottles of water banded with a note such as “Celebrating your commitment to inspire the children/youth of our community! We appreciate you, ____UMC”
Additional information about becoming a “Congregation for Children” (C4C) is available on the Fairway District web site http://fairwaydistrictnc.org/congregations-for-children-c4c/c4c-resources/ or by contacting Elaine Lilliston, District C4C Coordinator, at email@example.com.
