One-third of our Fairway District UMCs are in various stages of intentionally partnering with local public schools! Is your UMC one of them?
“Congregations for Children” (C4C) is community involvement beyond the traditional walls and ministries of the church. We celebrate that many churches have youth and children’s ministries including Sunday morning opportunities, VBS, UMYF, Pilgrimage, music/choir and weekday ministries for and with children/youth. C4C is different! C4C is an intentional partnership with one or more local public schools. This means that public school administrators KNOW a specific UMC may be contacted to help further the vision of the school administration for stronger schools in our communities. This means that church members are serving the public schools in our midst throughout the week, as well as behind the scenes. This means that the children and youth of our communities KNOW that the community cares. This means that the UMC is making a difference locally!
Contact Fairway District C4C Coordinator Elaine Lilliston (email@example.com or 919-567-9427) today to share the partnership your UMC celebrates with a public school in your community.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
We celebrate with you the ministry of the laity in The United Methodist Church and invite you to a great event particularly for laity on Sunday afternoon, November 15, at 3:00pm, at St. Francis United Methodist Church, 2965 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary, NC. Doors will open at 2:00pm with a book signing starting at 2:15pm.
Bob Goff, noted gospel-proclaimer, amazing storyteller and best-selling author, will be our special guest speaker. Bob describes himself as the Founder and Chief balloon inflator of Restore International. Others describe him as “one of the most amazing people I have ever met!” We are thrilled that Bob will spend the second weekend in November in our Annual Conference, first with our youth at Pilgrimage 2015 on Friday and Saturday before speaking at this grand event for laity on Sunday afternoon. Visit bobgoff.com for sneak previews of what we will experience together on November 15!
Clergy gatherings have been convened in August so that clergy might spend time together in worship, connecting, learning and equipping for ministry. This event is convened in that same spirit – for laity so that together, we might worship, connect, learn and go forth ready to love and give!

The Fairway District will host Dr. Marty Cauley for discussion about his recent book Dying to Go on Vacation on November 19 (10-11:30am) at Lemon Springs UMC, 7225 Lemon Springs Road, Sanford, NC. All clergy and interested laity are invited to join.
From the book: “What are you waiting for? Is there something you are putting off until tomorrow? What if suddenly all of your tomorrows were taken away? We are all dying, but we live like we have all the time in the world. Dying to go On Vacation is the inspirational retelling of my journey of faith after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis. It is a humorous, and sometimes heart breaking, story of positively dealing with why bad things happen to good people and what to do when the world you were building seems to fall apart.”
