“The good news is that while we aimed at healing souls, a miracle was taking place – God was at work using the ministry to win souls at the same time. Together we celebrate the Holy Spirit at work in the life of our denomination,” shared by Bishop John Yambasu, Sierra Leone
As the season of Lent approaches, the Fairway District Mission Strategy Team is providing congregations with a guide for experiencing both spiritual and physical transformation. Beginning on Ash Wednesday and throughout the 40 days of Lent, all are invited to combine disciplines of walking, jogging, cycling, etc. with intentional meditation and prayer through the power of the Holy Spirit so that we may all grow in our walk with Christ.
While we continue to “Imagine No Malaria in our lifetimes” – churches are encouraged to solicit financial pledges for time dedicated to meditative movement. The Prayer Guide provides more information regarding pledges, suggested meditative practices, and fast facts on Malaria.
More information to come at the Celebrating Connections event –Sunday, February 28th from 3-5PM at Jonesboro UMC.

Following a time of district worship with special guest speaker, Mike Ward, and inspiration around the Lord’s Table at our upcoming “Celebrating Connections: Congregations & Communities” @ Jonesboro UMC from 3:00 to 4:45pm, we will respond with choosing one of six breakout sessions. The 30-minute sessions have been designed to be practical as we share experiences, resources and networking possibilities from throughout our Fairway District.
Children and youth have basic needs to ensure success during the school day. School counselors are often the ones to contact our local church families to help meet these needs. Terri Kirkman and a team from St. Luke (Sanford/Lee County) will share their ongoing “clothing closet” success stories and best practices while Lisa Littleton and a team from Holly Springs UMC (Wake County) will share their beginning partnership with Holly Springs Elementary.
