Massey’s Chapel UMC for two events.
1st – A Book Reading
Grief’s Compass: Walking the Wilderness with Emily Dickinson
Thursday, May 10th, 7 – 8:30 pm
Patricia Runkle will give a reading from her book, with discussion following. It will be an excellent ‘kick start’ for the following morning’s workshop!
2nd – “Blessing Grief” – a Workshop
Friday, May 11th, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Author and poet Patricia Runkle will offer a workshop called “Blessing Grief”—a perspective on the holiness of grieving. With a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School, Patricia brings to the subject of grief her creativity, educational background, faith, and personal experience of loss.
Patricia’s memoir, Grief’s Compass: Walking the Wilderness with Emily Dickinson, charts a course through profound grief and loss, as well as needed grace of healing. The book has received high praise. One reviewer wrote, “This book is a sanctuary, a refuge. There is medicine in these pages.”
The workshop is FREE – we’ll have light continental breakfast fare before we begin – so we do ask for you to register your attendance for this offering to our church and community! To RSVP and for any questions, please contact KKirkpatrick@nccumc.org
Invite friends and family, neighbors and colleagues that you know are dealing with grief – recent or long term.
