District Leadership
Sunny Limm, District Superintendent

Sunny Limm was born in California, grew up in South Korea, and now lives in North Carolina, serving the Lord wherever he is called. While pastoring local churches in the Sound District, he chaired the District Anti-Racism Team and served on the District Superintendency Committee and the Connectional Table.
Sunny appreciates all kinds of arts, especially music and paintings. He likes collecting theology books and hopes to engage with them more this year than in previous years. He cherishes spending time with his family – his wife, Jinhee, and their two children, Charis and Theo.
Above all else, Sunny loves getting to know Jesus Christ more deeply with all that he is and with all that he has. He is grateful for God’s beautiful and holy love manifested in Christ that has never stopped moving his heart and satisfying his soul. He is enthusiastic about sharing the gospel with others and witnessing how the Holy Spirit transforms lives in and through the church.
Before answering God’s call to ordained ministry, Sunny studied at MI College of Contemporary Music and worked in the music industry as a musician, teacher, and audio engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Theology from Methodist Theological University and a Master of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School.
Sunny enjoys serving the Lord with the Fairway District family in making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Nancy Martinez, Capital/Fairway Administrative Assistant to the DS

Nancy serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Capital and Fairway Districts of the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Nancy has a lifelong passion for service that led her to a career in mental health. She earned her degree in social work and spent 17 years with the University of Miami Child Protection Team, conducting assessments of children and families involved in allegations of abuse and neglect.
In 2012, Nancy relocated to Clayton, North Carolina, following her husband, Rev. Rafael Martinez, a United Methodist ordained elder, and has since continued serving within the North Carolina Conference. Having committed her life to God at a young age, Nancy has served the United Methodist Church in numerous leadership roles. She is a Consecrated Stephen Minister and a certified coach with Passion in Partnership.
Nancy considers it a privilege to serve the church and to share God’s unconditional love through her work and ministry. She is the proud mother of four children—two biological and two through marriage—Valerie, Leuvis, Liliam, and Marcos. —and a joyful grandmother of four grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, and traveling.
Debora Murphy, District Lay Leader

Debora lives in Apex with her husband, Ray, where they serve and worship at Fuquay-Varina UMC. Ray is a retired Army Captain, and Debora recently retired early after 25 years with the same company. During that time, she completed an MBA in Supply Chain and Logistics and traveled internationally approximately 80% of the time.
In addition to managing several teams within Supply Management at both the factory and division levels, Debora also served as an executive coach and holds a certification from the NeuroLeadership Institute.
Growing up in a small town in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, Debora was fortunate to have a strong support system. Her early church involvement included summer music camps, youth choir, and Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Graham. Church was not a priority during her university years at UNC–Greensboro. After Debora and Ray married, they attended Mass at Most Holy Trinity and worship services at First Baptist Church each Sunday for eight years while living in Augusta, Georgia.
Through her job, they were transferred to North Carolina—specifically to Fuquay-Varina—where those two worship options were no longer geographically close. When they noticed a Methodist church with pumpkins covering the front lawn, they decided to visit. They quickly felt they had found a home; the liturgy and the Wesleyan “methods” resonated deeply.
Debora and Ray attended the Walk to Emmaus in 2000 and have continued to grow in their understanding of Wesleyan theology. They remain actively involved in the Heart of Carolina Emmaus community and in The Upper Room Emmaus Ministries, serving as communicators on behalf of Emmaus Ministries.
In addition to serving in the music ministry at Fuquay-Varina UMC, Debora serves on the Strategic Steering Committee and has previously served on the Nominations and Leadership Development Committee. As part of the North Carolina Five-Day Academy for Spiritual Formation, she serves as Worship Director. She recently completed the Two-Year Academy for Spiritual Formation and serves as an Ambassador for the North Carolina Institute of Spiritual Directors.
Debora collects hymnals—most often found at thrift stores—and enjoys a good lettuce wedge salad, fish and chips, bold coffee, and half-and-half iced tea. She loves making connections for people, so don’t be surprised if she says, “You need to meet…”
She is excited to be serving the Fairway District alongside others as part of God’s good plan.
