In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep,
while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
And God saw that the light was good;
Your Spirit breathed, swept, mighty-ed in blowing over the waters
and the covering darkness of the void.
Your Spirit breathed, swept, mighty-ed in the blowing as Your Word spoke
the creation of light…Let there be…
God of creating wind, God of Pentecost fire,
Let there be light in us.
Create anew Your Light-shine within us.
Blow, breathe, sweep, and mighty Your Spirit’s breath
within our dark places desperate for Your Light!
Breathe on us breath of God
Fill us with life anew,
That we may love as Thou dost love,
and do what Thou wouldst do.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence
and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
and sustain in me a willing spirit.
God of creating wind, God of Pentecost fire,
Let there be… You.
Always thankful for you,
Dena
