Grace and peace. Thank you to those who logged on for the zoom meet and greet. Don’t worry if you forgot or couldn’t make it, I will schedule another one soon. I want to say thank you to all of you that work with youth. The work you do is appreciated.
The list that we have for youth leaders, paid and volunteer, is not complete. We are missing about 1/3 of the churches in the district. I understand that not every church has a youth ministry but if you do, even if you have received an email from me, please follow the link below and input your information. We would like to have the most up-to-date contact information for each of you. https://forms.gle/aCYiuEhx4JqcoC1SA
As I stated last newsletter, I am working on creating district sub-groups and also on putting together a District Youth Leadership team. More information on both will be coming in the next few months.
I am looking for stories of youth in action. If your youth group has a project that they have been doing, I would love to highlight it in the newsletter. Send me an email or give me a call.
The dates for conference events have been posted on the conference youth website https://nccumc.org/leadership/youth/events/. Also the district youth have a FaceBook page (https://www.facebook.com/FairwayDistrictYouthNCCUMC), an Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/fairwaydistrictyouth/), and a website (https://fairwaydistrictnc.org/youth/). I invite you to follow and like the social media pages and bookmark the website.
If you have any questions, concerns, comments, or ideas you can send me, Justin Wells, an email at jwells@nccumc.org or call me at 910-591-8156.
Without further ado, let’s meet another youth serving on the CYC.
Hi! I’m Rachel Ward. I’m a junior this year and I go to Fuquay-Varina UMC. I’m on ResCom (Resolutions Committee)! I believe youth ministry is important because it gives each one of us a place to voice our opinions and express ourselves. Like on ResCom, if I see something I don’t believe is right then I have the power to make a statement about it.
Youth ministry has given me a place to feel like I belong, and lots of loving and accepting friends who are walking similar paths as me. All the retreats, all the conferences, they all give me time to step away and reflect, as well as grow my relationship with God and the youth around me.
