C 4 C coordinators Melody Reed and Ruthie Haugh of Saint Francis UMC (Pastors Anne Ahl and Tyler Yoder-Mullins) responded recently to a request from their partner school. Due to the Wake County Public School bus driver shortage, children ride the school bus in shifts. Unfortunately, many of the second shift elementary-aged children are not arriving home until close to 7 p.m. Thus, the school asked Melody and Ruthie if the church family might be willing to donate a few packaged after school snacks for the second shift riders. Knowing the community-oriented church family well, they were quick to respond, “ABSOLUTELY!”
In less than a week, a fully loaded van was ferrying the initial load of snacks to the delighted school personnel.
