On Saturday, August 27th, Fiesta Cristiana’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Team worked in the Town of Robbins at the Carolina Fried Chicken and House of Pizza place. The team was very excited to share the love of Christ by helping families to get ready for the school year. 90 families attended the event, 9 of them got their Covid-19 vaccine, 8 were tested and 71 received At Home Test Kits. 30 children received new back packs with school supplies. 85% of families served during the event were Hispanic/Latino. Efforts started one week earlier with CHW’s visiting neighborhoods in and around Robbins making connections and letting families know about this opportunity. CHW’s also continue meeting with local businesses and government agencies to stablish relationships that can benefit underserved Hispanic/Latino communities.
We thank El Centro Hispano Inc, Ottendorf Laboratories, House of Advocacy, and Mr. Bob Finch for their partnership. We also thank The Moore County Citizens’ Pet Responsibility Committee (PRC) for giving away pet food and promoting their services and vaccination at low cost at the event.
Asset Mapping and Community Diagnostic
On August 24th, Fiesta Cristiana shared an update of the CHW program during the Fairway District Pastor’s Meeting. Fiesta Cristiana is currently conducting an asset mapping as well as doing a community diagnostic (with our partner ECH). These tools will be used to learn more about community’s resources and strengths
in order to build on these assets to address the needs of the community and improve the quality life. Information will be shared in the next few weeks about an opportunity for pastors to participate in a Pastor’s Focus Group as well as an online survey.
